K-Pop / Idol Pop

The Korean idol system rendered as pop: high-gloss, hook-stacked tracks built for synchronized choreography and visual concept. Genre-switching within one song is the rule - a verse rap bridges into an EDM drop, an R&B pre-chorus, a key-change dance break. Mixed/precise vocals, tight ad-libs, chant hooks, and fan-call sections engineered for live response and viral clips.

History

Born from SM Entertainment's manufactured-group model (H.O.T., 1996, by Lee Soo-man) and the SM/YG/JYP training systems, K-pop fused American teen-pop and hip-hop with Korean variety culture. The 2009-2012 'second generation' (Girls' Generation, BIGBANG) globalized it; 'Gangnam Style' (2012) cracked the West, and BTS plus social-media fandom (fan-cams, streaming armies) turned it into a worldwide industrial format.
