Guitar-forward idol-pop: live-band textures, distorted riffs or jangly arpeggios, real drum kits, and emo/pop-punk and soft-rock songwriting under idol-grade vocals. Choruses chase anthemic uplift; production keeps the polish but swaps EDM drops for crunchy power chords and band dynamics. Band-format idol acts blur the line between idol group and self-playing rock outfit.
History
FT Island and CNBLUE pioneered the idol-band format around 2008-2010 under FNC. JYP's DAY6 (2015) deepened it with self-written pop-rock and the prolific 'Every DAY6' project, while later acts (N.Flying, Xdinary Heroes) and rock-leaning title tracks from mainstream groups normalized guitars and live instrumentation within the idol mainstream.
