Draft for review. This is a starting template that reflects how the app works today; it is not legal advice. Please review and adjust before relying on it.
The Song Planner (“we”, “the app”) is an encyclopedia of musical styles and a workspace for planning music. The public encyclopedia can be browsed with no account. The planner requires an account. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account information — when you sign up we use Clerk for authentication, which stores your email address (and, if you use one, your name and profile image from your sign-in provider). We do not store your password.
- Your workspace data — the projects, ratings, notes, picks, and song/version data you create are stored in our database (Convex), keyed to your account.
- Basic technical data — standard server and hosting logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) from our host, Vercel, used for security and reliability.
How we use it
To provide and secure your account, store and display your workspace, and operate and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data.
Third-party services
We rely on Clerk (authentication), Convex (data storage), and Vercel (hosting). Each processes data under its own privacy terms. Public browsing does not require an account.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (via Clerk) and to remember preferences such as your theme. We do not use advertising trackers.
Your choices & rights
You can update or delete your account at any time from your account menu, or contact us to request access to or deletion of your data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA.
