Christian / Worship Rock
Guitar-driven rock built around explicit Christian faith and corporate worship, spanning intimate acoustic confession to stadium-scale anthems. Big choruses, climbing dynamics, congregation-ready hooks and gospel-rooted lyrics about redemption, doubt and devotion. Production runs from raw garage grit to glossy, reverb-soaked megachurch sheen with looping delay guitars and swelling pads.
History
Born from the late-1960s Jesus Movement as Larry Norman and Jesus-music coffeehouse acts plugged faith into rock. The 1980s built a CCM industry; the 1990s sent Jars of Clay and Switchfoot onto mainstream charts. From 2000s megachurches (Hillsong, Passion, Bethel, Elevation) reshaped it into a global worship-rock production style dominating church PA systems worldwide.
