Heavy metal carrying explicitly Christian, evangelistic lyrics, spanning glam, thrash, power, and death-metal styles. Musically indistinguishable in heft from secular metal, with crunchy riffs, soaring or growled vocals, and shredding solos, but the message turns to faith, redemption, and spiritual warfare. Often dubbed 'white metal' against black metal's inversion.

History

Pioneered in the late 70s by Resurrection Band and Petra, it gained mainstream traction when Stryper's 1986 To Hell with the Devil went platinum on MTV. Tourniquet brought technical thrash, Bloodgood and Whitecross the glam-metal end, and Australia's Mortification the death-metal extreme. A robust festival and label network sustains it as a parallel metal world.
