Working-Class Roots is less a strict sonic invention than a thematic roots form: class-conscious songwriting carried by folk-rock, country-rock, or stripped Americana arrangements. The songs tend to focus on wages, physical labor, inherited struggle, and the spiritual wear of ordinary life.
History
As heartland rock and Americana overlapped, many artists began writing about the same social terrain with more roots detail and less bombast. The result was a body of songs that treat class not as slogan but as daily environment.
