Vietnamese Pop (V-Pop) covers modern Vietnamese-language pop, ballad, dance-pop, R&B, rap-pop and folk-pop hybrids. It often combines polished production with melodramatic melody, visual music videos, internet fandom and regional identity. Traditional melodic turns and poetic language can coexist with EDM drops, hip-hop features and K-pop-style choreography. The category is now one of Southeast Asia's most visible digital pop scenes.

History

Vietnamese popular song moved through prewar tân nhạc, bolero, diaspora stages and post-renovation commercial pop before the V-Pop label solidified online. Mỹ Tâm became a major bridge figure, while Sơn Tùng M-TP helped make music-video spectacle central to the scene. Later artists such as Hoàng Thùy Linh, Đen, MIN and Tóc Tiên showed how folklore, rap, dance and pop-ballad language could all become contemporary Vietnamese pop.
