Lush, romantic, blood-soaked metal built on vampirism as its total aesthetic: shimmering symphonic keyboards and choirs draped over fast tremolo riffing and blastbeats, abruptly dropping into slow gothic waltzes. Vocals swing between shrieked black-metal rasps, theatrical baritone narration and operatic clean female sopranos. Production is dense and reverberant, mid-to-fast in BPM but laced with cello, harpsichord and orchestral swells, the mood velvet-and-candlelight aristocratic horror — seduction, mourning and bloodlust rendered as high gothic spectacle.

History

Vampire metal coalesced in the mid-1990s as a lyric-and-aesthetic offshoot of gothic and symphonic black metal. England's Cradle of Filth defined the template with 'Dusk... and Her Embrace' (1996) and the Elizabeth Bathory concept album 'Cruelty and the Beast' (1998), pairing Dani Filth's screech with orchestral grandeur. In Rome, Theatres des Vampires (formed 1994 by Lord Vampyr) made vampirism their entire identity from 'Vampyrìsme...' (1996) onward, while Portugal's Moonspell brought a sultrier 'wolfheart' romanticism. The style fed off Anne Rice and Hammer Horror imagery, spreading through European gothic-metal labels and festivals, and remains active via Theatres des Vampires, Cradle of Filth and the broader symphonic gothic scene.
