Urbano-Caribbean is the modern pan-Caribbean urban umbrella that fuses reggaeton's dembow, Dominican dembow, trap latino and dancehall-pop into a single streaming-era sound. Productions layer dembow kick-snare and trap hi-hats under lush tropical melodies, Auto-Tuned melodic rap and pop toplines, engineered for global playlists at roughly 90–100 BPM. History
As reggaeton went global in the mid-2010s, a broader Caribbean urbano identity coalesced around Colombian and Puerto Rican stars — J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Karol G, Anuel AA and Rauw Alejandro — who blended reggaeton, trap and dembow with pop and afrobeats. Streaming and cross-border features (with US pop and hip-hop) turned the sound into a chart juggernaut, and by the early 2020s it defined the Latin mainstream. The tag captures the union of Caribbean urban styles that reshaped world pop.
