UK Hardcore is the post-happy-hardcore UK style with fast four-beat drums, euphoric vocals, trance riffs, pitched leads, breakbeat traces, and rave-pop choruses. It is harder and faster than mainstream trance, but more melodic and vocal than Dutch hardcore. The sound is emotional, bright, and engineered for MC-led rave rooms.
History
UK hardcore evolved from breakbeat hardcore and happy hardcore into a cleaner, trance-influenced 2000s sound. Hixxy, Sharkey, Force & Styles, Scott Brown, Brisk, Ham, Dougal, Gammer, Darren Styles, Breeze, Re-Con, Sy & Unknown, Squad-E, and Joey Riot became key names, with Raver Baby and Clubland X-Treme Hardcore central to its popular memory. The style remains a strong UK rave niche.
