Turkish Pop blends Turkish melodic language with Western pop, dance, rock, arabesque influence, folk color and sleek star production. It is built around strong vocal hooks, dramatic modulation, percussion, club remixes and lyrics that move easily between romance, melancholy and swagger. The style is globally legible as pop, but its melodic turns and vocal phrasing keep it connected to Turkish musical identity.
History
Ajda Pekkan and Sezen Aksu helped build modern Turkish pop's foundations, while Tarkan made it internationally visible in the 1990s. Sertab Erener's Eurovision win, Kenan Doğulu, Mustafa Sandal, Hande Yener, Gülşen and later streaming-era stars kept the field commercially powerful. Turkish pop also intersects with arabesque-pop, Anatolian rock memory and European club culture, making it both local and exportable.
