Trumpet bop emphasizes fast articulation, high-lying lines, rhythmic attack, and bright harmonic command, often balancing brass flash with blues cry.

History

Dizzy Gillespie and Fats Navarro established the vocabulary, Clifford Brown refined it, and later figures such as Lee Morgan and Woody Shaw extended bop trumpet into hard bop and post-bop. It is the sound of intelligence wearing lung power.
