Tropical Latin Pop

Sun-soaked tropical pop blending Caribbean rhythms (merengue, son, soca, reggae lilt) with bright pop melody: percussion-driven grooves, horn accents, and breezy singalong choruses. Beachy and uptempo, it fuses island flavor with mainstream pop polish, from merengue-pop dance hits to summery cumbia-tinged and reggae-flecked crossover anthems.
History
Tropical pop fused Caribbean dance rhythms with mainstream pop through Miami studios in the 1990s. Gloria Estefan's tropical-flavored hits, Carlos Vives's vallenato-pop, and Juan Luis Guerra's merengue crossovers defined it; Vives's 2010s revival with 'La Bicicleta' kept the breezy, percussion-rich tropical-pop sound on global charts.
