Tropical House

Tropical House is a softer house style built around warm pads, marimba or steel-drum-like leads, relaxed tempos, beach-pop atmosphere, and gentle dancehall or Balearic influence. It is not usually Latin American music, but it fits this family because it globalized a "tropical" club aesthetic: island-coded melody, pop vocals, and house rhythm made safe for radio, poolsides, festivals, and streaming playlists. Its best records feel airy and melodic rather than aggressive or drop-centered.
History
Australian producer Thomas Jack helped popularize the term as a semi-joking label, but Kygo, Klingande, Robin Schulz, Felix Jaehn, Lost Frequencies, Matoma, Bakermat, Sam Feldt, and related European producers made the sound globally commercial. In 2014 and 2015, remixes such as "Prayer in C," "Cheerleader," and "Are You with Me" proved that dance music could be mellow and still dominate radio. Tropical house's peak was short, but its sound shaped late-2010s pop production and chill-house playlists.
