Worship and gospel sung over trap production: rolling 808s, rapid hi-hats and Atlanta-style beats under spontaneous, R&B-inflected praise vocals and ad-libbed bridges. It marries church testimony and vertical worship lyrics to the textures of modern trap and contemporary R&B, often loose and improvisatory, blurring sung worship, rap and gospel soul.
History
Crystallized when trap production met the worship movement. Lecrae and Zaytoven's 'Let the Trap Say Amen' (2018) and Kanye West's Sunday Service (2019) primed the ground; Atlanta's Maverick City Music (founded 2019) and Chandler Moore fused Black gospel, R&B and trap-leaning production into a cross-listed Christian-rap-and-worship sound that drew global young audiences.
