Trap chassis blown out to hyperpop extremes: distorted, clipping 808s, rapid hi-hat rolls and rage-beat synths under screamed or heavily Auto-Tuned, pitched vocals. Aggressive and overloaded, it swaps melodic sweetness for adrenaline, fusing rap flows and mosh-pit energy with the red-lined digital maximalism of the internet-pop scene.
History
Took shape around 2019-2020 as hyperpop's noise met trap and 'rage' production. Rico Nasty's 'sugar trap', Black Dresses' abrasion and 100 gecs' rap-leaning cuts pushed the hybrid, while Gupi and Quannnic-adjacent producers fed an aggressive, mosh-ready strain that crossed hyperpop's distortion with trap's rhythmic backbone on SoundCloud.
