Trap / Future Bass / Wave
Located in 1 route
Trap / Future Bass / Wave covers the post-dubstep and EDM-bass lane where Southern rap 808s, half-time drops, bright supersaws, pitched vocals, and internet-native mood design overlap. The family ranges from festival trap's snare rolls and brass stabs to future bass's elastic chords and wave's neon melancholy. It is less about one tempo than about bass weight, digital sheen, trap-derived drums, and emotional drop architecture.
History
The family took shape when US trap-rap drum language met UK bass, dubstep, wonky, LA beat music, and EDM festival scale. TNGHT, Baauer, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, and UZ made the early 2010s trap explosion, while Flume, Cashmere Cat, Lido, San Holo, ODESZA, Illenium, and Mura Masa pushed melodic future bass into streaming-era pop. Wave and hardwave later built an underground around Plastician, Wavemob, Skeler, Kareful, Deadcrow, and related artists, connecting trap drums to cyberpunk ambience and emotional sound design.
