Tracker Music is electronic music composed in tracker software, where notes, samples, effects, and commands are entered vertically in pattern grids. It is not always chiptune, but tracker technique is one of chip music's core ancestors because it encouraged tiny samples, clever looping, fast arpeggios, and exact control under memory limits. The sound ranges from Amiga modules and demoscene anthems to jungle, techno, game scores, and modern retro modules.

History

Trackers emerged on Amiga and spread through PC demoscene, bulletin-board culture, game development, and MOD/S3M/XM/IT file exchange. Artists such as 4mat, Purple Motion, Skaven, Jester, Necros, Radix, Dubmood, Lizardking, Elwood, and Moby-era Voodoo Child showed how sample-based pattern writing could become a distinctive electronic practice. Tracker habits later influenced chiptune, breakcore, indie games, Renoise production, and the demoscene's continuing live-coding and audiovisual culture.
