tagStarted 1980sPeak 2020-2025Last big hit still active

Thai-language pop, modernized into a K-pop-influenced idol and soloist scene. Contemporary T-pop favors crisp dance-pop and bright synth production with rap breaks and tight group choreography, alongside emotive band-pop and singer-songwriter balladry. The sound is glossy and trend-aware, fusing Western and Korean pop structures with Thai melodic phrasing.

History

Built on 1980s-90s string-pop and the RS/GMM Grammy label era, Thai pop rebranded as 'T-pop' in the 2020s around survival-show idol groups. 4EVE (formed 2020) debuted with 'Ooh La La!' and PROXIE rose via reality TV, PROXIE's 'Silent Mode' going viral in 2022. Newer group BUS arrived in 2023, while soloists like Bowkylion and bands like Tilly Birds carried the wave into wider Southeast Asian recognition.
