Techno Bass is Miami-rooted electro bass: heavy low end, 808 kicks, fast programmed drums, vocoders, car-audio pressure, and sci-fi synth hooks. It is related to Miami bass but more explicitly electronic, machine-funk, and electro-forward. The style values speaker damage, dance crews, skating rinks, and trunk-rattling futurism.

History

Techno Bass grew from Miami electro, Pretty Tony productions, Dynamix II, MC ADE, Maggotron, Gucci Crew II, The Beat Club, DJ Magic Mike, and labels such as Pandisc and 4-Sight. Dynamix II's "Techno Bass" gave the lane one of its clearest names, while Pretty Tony, Maggotron, Iceman J, Bass Mekanik, Debonaire, Scratch-D, Clay D, and related producers kept electro's robotic side connected to Miami bass pressure. Later electro-bass revivalists treated the sound as a bridge between electro, breaks, booty bass, and car-audio culture.
