Tech Trance

Tech trance toughens trance with sharper kicks, darker bassline pressure, acid lines, and percussive minimalism borrowed from techno. Melodies are still present, but they feel weaponized rather than celestial.

History

The style formed when trance producers absorbed techno’s severity and stripped arrangements down for more aggressive main-room use. Marco V, Sander van Doorn, Simon Patterson, Mark Sherry, Bryan Kearney, and later harder-edge festival acts kept the sound alive between uplifting trance, hard trance, and techier modern main-floor styles.
