Swinging Honky-Tonk

Swinging Honky-Tonk brings western-swing buoyancy into honky-tonk song form: shuffle drums, steel and fiddle, dancehall piano, and vocals that keep barroom themes moving with more lift than drag. It is the point where heartbreak learns to pivot cleanly on the dance floor.

History

Ray Price's shuffle bands, Hank Thompson's western-swing-inflected hits, and later acts such as the Time Jumpers and Dale Watson exemplify the lane. It helped bridge classic western swing and postwar honky-tonk without either side losing its character.
