History
Codified at Stax's McLemore Avenue studio by the integrated house band Booker T. & the M.G.'s and the Memphis Horns, who cut Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd and Wilson Pickett sessions. Writers Isaac Hayes and David Porter shaped the formula. After Stax folded in 1975, its stripped, horn-forward aesthetic became a template revived worldwide.
