History
Took flight when Springsteen's 1984 'Born in the U.S.A.' turned heartland themes into the era's biggest stadium phenomenon, anchoring his first stadium tour. Mellencamp ('Scarecrow') and Seger followed with their own arena anthems, while John Cafferty supplied radio-anthem heft. The format defined mid-'80s arena touring and shaped how later acts staged blue-collar rock at scale.
