History
Spirit-led worship emerged from Pentecostal-charismatic renewal streams—Bethel Church (Redding), Jesus Culture and the wider prophetic-worship movement—where spontaneity, 'soaking' and the manifest presence of the Spirit are central values. Kim Walker-Smith's fervent leading, Bethel's spontaneous 'moments,' and United Pursuit's organic jams modeled worship that follows the Spirit's leading in real time. Cross-listed with prophetic and prayer-room worship, the style shaped modern worship's love of extended bridges, spontaneous singing and atmosphere-driven encounter.
