History
Descending from Hawkwind's early-70s space rock and Sabbath's weight, the style crystallized when New Jersey's Monster Magnet fused space-rock drift with heavy riffing on 1991's Spine of God. Italy's Ufomammut became a defining force from the mid-2000s, layering synths over monolithic doom, while Om and Yob pushed cosmic, mantra-like heaviness into festival-scale ritual.
