Southern Gospel Country centers quartet or family harmony, piano-led arrangements, and declarative sacred lyrics delivered with uplift and precision. Compared with rawer Country Gospel, it is more arranged, more harmony-forward, and often more concert-ready.

History

Southern gospel and country shared personnel, audiences, and circuits throughout the South, so their overlap was inevitable. The Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, Louvin Brothers, and later family groups mixed church harmony discipline with country accessibility, helping sacred material reach both gospel and country audiences.
