Slow House is house music that deliberately lowers the tempo and pressure: 100-118 BPM grooves, relaxed kicks, elastic bass, warm chords, hand percussion, and arrangements that can simmer for minutes. It borrows from deep house, nu-disco, indie dance, Balearic, and organic house, but its central move is patience. The tracks still work in DJ sets, yet they make space for sway, texture, and low-slung hypnosis rather than quick peak-time payoff.

History

Slow house developed from Berlin downtempo club culture, Balearic edits, deep house, Burning Man/playa-tech taste, and producers who wanted house's pulse without its usual speed. Acid Pauli, Rampue, Be Svendsen, Axel Boman, Kora, Satori, Stavroz, Kerala Dust, Jan Blomqvist, Christian Löffler, Stimming, David August, DJ Koze, Nicola Cruz, and Romare all represent different slow-house routes: psychedelic, jazzy, indie-electronic, desert-coded, or melodic deep-house.
