Slap House is the late-2010s house-pop style built around muted, bouncing bass hits, dark vocal hooks, simple drops, and a polished streaming-ready mix. It often flips older pop songs or viral vocals into a low-slung club template, with less melodic brightness than future house and less aggression than bass house. The "slap" comes from the bass: a short, percussive low-end sound that made countless remixes and covers feel instantly recognizable.

History

Dynoro and Gigi D'Agostino's "In My Mind" and Imanbek's remix of SAINt JHN's "Roses" turned the sound into a global formula. Gaullin, VIZE, Alok, Dynoro, Imanbek, Topic, Meduza-adjacent pop-house producers, and a huge wave of Eastern European and Brazilian dance-pop acts spread the style across streaming platforms. Slap house became overused quickly, but for a few years it was one of the dominant sounds of commercial dance remixes.
