The umbrella technique-turned-genre where rappers melodize their bars, sliding between sung notes and rhythmic speech, almost always glazed in Auto-Tune. Hooks and verses blur; phrases bend into pitch over warm, spacious trap or R&B chords. Less about bars-per-minute than mood, melody, and the catch of a half-sung refrain that lodges in the ear.
History
Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak (2008) legitimized the rapper-as-singer, and Drake and Future industrialized it across the 2010s, turning Auto-Tuned melody into rap's default delivery. By mid-decade nearly every chart hit folded singing into rapping, making sing-rap the connective tissue of the whole Pop/Melodic/R&B family rather than a niche.
