Scripture Songs (Kids) set Bible verses to melodies so children can memorize them through repetition. Compared with general kids' praise, the text is usually closer to a specific verse or passage, often named by reference. The music can be folk, pop-rock, rap, lullaby or classroom chant, but the function is precise: make scripture portable enough for children to carry it in memory.

History

Scripture memory songs grew from church education, camp choruses and cassette/CD curricula, then expanded through Steve Green's "Hide 'Em in Your Heart," Seeds Family Worship, The Rizers, Slugs & Bugs, Listener Kids and many ministry publishers. YouTube and streaming made verse songs easier for families and teachers to repeat daily. The category remains popular because it turns rote memorization into shared musical practice.
