Sci-Fi Ambient leans more technological and cinematic than contemplative space music, using futuristic timbres, darker drones, and soundtrack-like scene cues to imply machines, stations, voids, or alien architecture.

History

It formed where ambient technique met science-fiction film scoring, game music, and cosmic electronics, with Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Eno, and later dark-space ambient artists supplying the template for music that sounds less spiritual and more engineered.
