Trumpeter and bandleader Bobby Rosario, dubbed 'the godfather' of the style, founded Orquesta 2000 after his 1977 conversion, and multi-instrumentalist Puchi Colón built a praise-and-worship salsa catalog; veteran sonero Ismael Miranda dedicated 2000s albums such as 'Con Cristo Vivo Mejor' to the genre. Sustained by churches, Christian radio and Gospel festivals across the Caribbean and the US diaspora, salsa gospel remains an active evangelistic tradition.
