History
Road rap developed from UK hip-hop, garage MC culture and South London street rap, with artists such as Giggs, Blade Brown, K Koke, Sneakbo, Nines, Skrapz, Potter Payper and later Dave and Headie One connecting the style to broader UK rap. YouTube channels, mixtapes, Link Up TV, SBTV and GRM Daily were crucial infrastructure. Drill later absorbed some of road rap's subject matter, but road rap kept a more reflective, narrative lane.
