Raptor House is a Venezuelan club sound associated with Caracas street parties, hard house pressure, Afro-Venezuelan drum memory, fast syncopation, rave synths, and rough, percussive loops. It is sometimes connected to changa tuki and local dance culture, but raptor house points especially to DJ Babatr's vocabulary: explosive snares, pitched vocal bits, bass stabs, and a chaotic joy that feels closer to a street rave than polished festival EDM. Recent rediscovery has made it a key reference for pan-Latin club music.

History

DJ Babatr, born Pedro Elias Corro, is widely identified as the genre's creator, developing the sound in late-1990s and early-2000s Caracas before international scenes fully recognized it. For years the music circulated locally and informally, marked by class and race stigma at home. The 2020s changed its visibility: reissues, Bandcamp releases, Resident Advisor and DJ Mag profiles, and collaborations such as Nick León's "Xtasis" carried raptor house into global club networks while keeping the story tied to Venezuelan street culture.
