Mosh-pit trap built on stereo-widened, trance-like synth leads looping over dull, pounding beats and overdriven elastic 808s. Vocals are reverb-drenched, chant-screamed, and minimal in content, all energy and adrenaline. Influenced by 80s/90s game and EDM synth patches, it's engineered for live chaos, repetition, and physical release over lyricism.
History
Codified by Playboi Carti's 'Whole Lotta Red' (2020), produced largely by F1lthy, and the 2021 hit 'Miss the Rage' by Trippie Redd and Carti. Carti's Opium label (Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely) plus Yeat and SoFaygo popularized the sound through the early 2020s. Producer collectives like F1lthy's Working On Dying drove its synth-lead template forward.
