History
As R&B fused with dance-pop and new jack swing in the late '80s, its uptempo crossover singles became dancefloor staples. Janet Jackson's Jam & Lewis productions, Whitney Houston's club-aimed hits and En Vogue's slick harmony defined a polished, choreography-driven R&B that dominated radio and clubs through the early-to-mid '90s.
