History
Emerging from 1980s skate-punk irreverence, the comic strain sharpened through NOFX's smartass California punk and the Vandals' cartoon humor. The Bloodhound Gang's crossover smash "The Bad Touch" in 1999 and Bowling for Soup's pop-punk gags pushed joke-punk into the mainstream, keeping snide, gross-out punk a radio presence into the 2000s.
