Psycore
Located in 1 route
Psycore is the hardcore extreme of psytrance: very high BPMs, compressed kicks, hostile glitches, horror atmospheres, rapid-fire edits, and sound design that can feel almost anti-groove. Where hi-tech can still bounce or joke, psycore aims for intensity and overload. It is a specialist sound for peak-night or after-hours audiences who want speed, pressure, and psychedelic abrasion pushed past normal dance-floor comfort.
History
Psycore grew from hi-tech, darkpsy, speedcore-adjacent experimentation, and producers who wanted psychedelic trance to compete with hardcore's extremity. Yaminahua, Kashyyyk, Will O Wisp, Dark Whisper, Audiopathik, Frantic Noise, Mother Of Datura, Xianzai, Spakum Hupakum, Neberius, Bolon Yokte, Haemogoblin, and Voodoo Hoodoo/Popol Vuh-style labels helped establish the vocabulary. It remains underground because the tempo and density demand committed listeners and specialized sound systems.
