Psybient
Located in 4 routes
Psybient blends psychedelic trance culture with ambient, dub, downtempo, world percussion, and deep-space synthesizer design. It often uses slow or midtempo grooves, long pads, tribal drums, acid traces, vocal drones, and cosmic melodies that feel designed for sunrise, chill stages, or altered-state listening. The sound can be lush and meditative, but it keeps a psychedelic electronic architecture.
History
Psybient developed around Goa/psytrance chillout rooms, ambient dub, festival culture, and labels such as Twisted, Ultimae, Interchill, and Aleph Zero. Shpongle became the most famous act, while Banco de Gaia, Entheogenic, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Solar Fields, Bluetech, Ott, Kaya Project, Younger Brother, and Cell defined major branches. It remains central to psytrance festivals, visionary-art culture, yoga-adjacent listening, and downtempo psychedelic scenes.
