History
Born with Snow White's Adriana Caselotti in 1937 and continued through Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, the princess musical was reinvented by the Disney Renaissance, whose Ariel, Belle and Jasmine gave the heroine an active "I Want" number. The 2000s-2010s broadened representation with Tiana, Rapunzel, Moana and the Encanto family, and the "I Want" ballad shifted from romance toward independence and destiny.
