Power Noise

Power Noise is the heavy, club-facing edge of rhythmic noise: huge distorted kick drums, looped impact, abrasive synth grit, minimal melody and a physical sense of compression. It often feels like techno rebuilt from damaged industrial machinery, with hooks replaced by pressure and repetition. Compared with broader rhythmic noise, it is usually more blunt, kick-centered and functional, built to hit hard in industrial clubs and headphone isolation alike.
History
Power noise developed in the 1990s from post-industrial noise, hard electronic body music and European dark-club culture. Noisex, Converter, Xotox, Iszoloscope, Winterkälte and Morgenstern became key names as labels and festivals created a circuit for harsh beat music. By the 2010s it had become more niche, but its sound fed dark techno, industrial bass music and modern hard electronic production.
