Piano House centers bright, percussive piano riffs over house drums, turning chord stabs into hooks that are easy to sing, sample and recognize. History

Piano house grew as Chicago and New York house met Italo-house, UK rave, early-1990s club pop and diva-led vocal records. Black Box, CeCe Peniston, Crystal Waters, K-Klass, Robin S., Alison Limerick, Degrees of Motion and MK made the piano riff a recognizable signature of early-1990s dance culture. The sound later fed commercial house, Eurodance, UK piano-house revivals and festival-friendly pop-house. It remains one of the easiest house subgenres for non-specialist listeners to identify.
