History

Building on 1960s-70s Swedish beat and prog, the scene exploded in mid-1990s Sweden and Norway: The Hellacopters and Gluecifer revived high-octane garage rock while Turbonegro pioneered theatrical 'deathpunk.' The 2000s garage revival (The Hives) and Norway's hardcore-meets-classic-rock Kvelertak kept the loud, hook-driven Scandirock lineage thriving.
