Nightclub Lounge is the large-room, late-evening side of lounge culture, with vocalists or small orchestras tailored to live club spaces rather than background-only settings. The sound blends polish and sociability: enough brass or rhythm to hold a room, enough softness to preserve intimacy.
History
The style was tied to casino showrooms, urban supper clubs, and TV-variety spillover, especially in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York; Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, and Julie London all recorded music that captured the adult glamour of the nightclub era while maintaining lounge’s central promise of atmosphere and ease.
