Neurofunk is hyper-designed machine funk: twisting bass resampling, surgical drums, synthetic aggression, and an almost biomechanical sense of groove. It is technical, dark, and precise—the kind of music that sounds like cybernetics filing a tax return at 174 BPM.
History
The style evolved from techstep as producers pushed bass sound design and rhythmic exactness further into science-fiction territory. Ed Rush & Optical laid essential groundwork, while Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Phace, Mefjus, and The Upbeats made neurofunk an international advanced-DnB language.
