Mod-Punk fuses punk's urgency with mod's sharp clothes, R&B roots, scooters, power chords and compact pop discipline. The guitars are bright and chopping, the rhythm section stays punchy, and the attitude is street-smart rather than nihilistic. It often sounds like The Who and Small Faces refracted through 1977 speed and youth politics, with visual identity and club culture carrying almost as much meaning as the riffs.
History
The Jam were the central band, bringing mod imagery and class-conscious songwriting into punk-era Britain. Around them came mod revival groups such as Secret Affair, The Chords, Purple Hearts, Squire and The Lambrettas, who built a scene around clubs, labels, fashion and retro-modern identity. Mod-punk's influence fed power pop, Britpop, punk revival and indie bands that wanted punk energy with cleaner tailoring and melodic focus.
