History
Minimal pop draws on the quiet-is-the-new-loud impulse in indie and the stripped intimacy bedroom recording enables. Artists like Billie Eilish (early), Frank Ocean's hushed cuts, and Daniel Caesar's bare arrangements made sparseness a deliberate aesthetic from the mid-2010s. Streaming rewarded the close, headphone-intimate sound, and minimalism became a hallmark of low-pressure home production.
