Minimal House reduces house to microscopic motion: dry kicks, tiny clicks, soft bass pulses, sparse chords, and negative space that makes every hat, rimshot, and vocal fleck matter. Tempos usually sit around 120–128 BPM, with hypnotic repetition, muted funk, and subtle sound design replacing big hooks.

History

Minimal House grew from Chicago house, Detroit techno, German minimal, and micro-sampling experiments in the late 1990s, especially around Perlon, Playhouse, Kompakt, Force Inc., and related European labels. Ricardo Villalobos, Herbert, Akufen, Isolée, Losoul, Baby Ford, Zip, and Robag Wruhme helped turn reduction into a sensual club language rather than an academic exercise. Its DNA fed microhouse, Romanian minimal, minimal/deep tech, and much of modern underground tech-house.
