History
Microhouse emerged from late-1990s minimal techno, glitch, experimental sampling, and deep house, especially around German, Swiss, Canadian, and Finnish producers. Labels such as Perlon, Playhouse, Force Tracks, Background, Mille Plateaux, and Kompakt supported a generation including Akufen, Ricardo Villalobos, Luomo, Isolée, Jan Jelinek, Farben, Sutekh, Portable, and Theorem. Its influence reached minimal house, Romanian minimal, leftfield techno, and the broader idea that a club track could be both tiny in gesture and huge in hypnotic effect.
